Could faith survive conviction?

Could faith survive conviction,

or does it require my doubt?

For my endless thoughts and contracting mind

yearn for trust amidst the drought.

Could Christ's Love survive contentment,

or does it require strife?

For in moments of enduring trial,

it's His peace I seek to find.

Could the Spirit survive satisfaction,

or does it require the mundane?

For when banality creeps in I act

upon what my soul craves.

And could we, Lord, survive my surrender,

or do You require my resistance?

For if I proclaimed Your reign then would we lose

my perpetual persistence?

And if all these fears are so,

then truly trapped am I.

For if doubt is an asset to my faith,

then with conviction I've arrived.
